Loss of electrolytes and the effects on the human body.

So what is it?

In simple terms, electrolytes are different chemicals found in the bloodstream that control the electrical charge and the water flow of the bloodstream. Electrolytes can often fluctuate causing the body to react in different ways. One of the most common reasons for a change in your bodys electrolytes is dehydration. The fluids and the nutrients are coming out of the body faster than they are coming in, and as a result dehydration occurs. You may not realise this but dehydration can occur very easily and very quickly, without even noticing. Without proper replenishment an imbalance in the bodys electrolytes can occur from just your bodys regular functions including:

You inhale and humidified air leaves the body
Sweat to cool the body especially during physical activity
And urinate or have bowel movement to rid the body of waste products.
other less common factors include diarrhoea, queasiness, diabetes and failure to drink fluids.

What should I look for?

As the level of water loss from the body increases, symptoms of dehydration become more evident. The most apparent symptoms include; dry mouth, light headedness, heart palpitations, nausea and vomiting (which results in the loss of more electrolytes) and the most common of all, muscle cramps.

So whats the answer?

Most people deem that the answer to this is just drink lots of water to replace what has been lost. This may have some truth, but what people dont know is that this sudden intake of fluids can cause drastic changes to the bodys water levels and replace the body with too many electrolytes. Just like the loss of electrolytes can be dangerous, the replacement of too many electrolytes is just as harmful to the body. We are living in a very busy worl now and drinking the required 8 glasses of water a day may sound extremely attainable, but we get so distracted in everyday life that we often can forget, or we do the opposite and try and drink all of it at once which can sometimes cause stomach pains. As we forget to drink water throughout the day things like chronic mucle cramping can occur on a regular basis. So whats the answer? Prevent it from happening in the first place.

Whats my answer?

About 3 months I started using this product Recovery e21. I was very sceptical at first as I though not another electrolyte supplement, but after first using their free sample they sent out (yes FREE) I found that by the day I felt fantastic. No charley horses, I felt hydrated and more alert. The terrific thing about Recovery e21 is its 100% organic and natural unlike a lot of sports drinks that claim to do the same. Feel free to check out their site where you can get your free sample.
